First, rest assured that all your created content (notes, folders, highlights, bookmarks, reading plan progress) and purchases are available in the new version. Below, we've included links to articles that will help you understand the changes and become proficient with the new version.
Second, sorry! We didn't mean for the changes to be a surprise. We did announce the upcoming changes, but your feedback has made it clear that we should have done more to make the transition easier.
And third, we get it. We would feel the same way you do — nobody wants an app that they rely on to change for no discernible reason. So, we have some explaining to do...
We didn't change things just to change things — we changed what was necessary to support some powerful new features — with the ultimate goal of helping all of us get the most out of reading and studying the Bible!
Multiple Study Bibles, Commentaries, and Bible translations can now be open at the same time — making it easier to compare passages and commentary between them. The number of open views is constrained only by the size of the screen. On phones it's limited to 2, or up up to 3 in landscape, but on tablets, up to 9 views can be open at the same time, and the web version of our new app can have as many open views as the computer screen will support! And, multiple views of the same Bible, Study Bible, or Commentary can be open, allowing different passages to be compared between them. It's like having multiple copies of all your books!
Search is much more powerful now — word and phrase searches can be performed across multiple Bible translations at the same time, and comparing verses in multiple translations is just a tap away.
In addition to highlighting Bible text and adding verse notes, commentary text can now be highlighted and notes can be added to commentary text. And, you can now add your own highlight colors!
If you like to follow a plan to read through the Bible, or have regular devotional times, we have a new Plans section in the app that will help you track your progress and stay on schedule.
We've heard from many of our customers that although they were unhappy about the changes initially, they've come to love the new version and the added utility it brings to their Bible study. We hope that you too will give it chance, and find that it helps you get the most out of reading and studying the Bible.
