EU Ad Consent & Personalized Ads

To keep our apps free and accessible, we show ads occasionally in the app. Ads are never shown as the user is reading the Bible because we believe our users should not have any interruptions while reading their Bible.

We utilize Google's Admob to fetch and serve ads from participating vendors on their ad network. Users living in the EU will need to interact with Google's consent dialog which can be found by:

1. Opening your Bible app
2. Tap the top right account icon to see a menu
3. Tap Settings
4. Under General, tap Ad preferences
5. Select "Show regular ads"
6. Tap Save & Continue 

To receive personalized ads, you will need to give consent.

To receive non-personalized ads, the following 6 requirements are needed. For more information please see Google's European regulations overview and guidance.

• Purpose 1 = Store and/or access information on a device
• Purpose 2 = Use limited data to select advertising
• Purpose 7 = Measure advertising performance
• Purpose 9 = Understand audiences through statistics or combinations of data from different sources
• Purpose 10 = Develop and improve services
• Vendor = Google Advertising Products

Here's a walkthrough on where to find these requirements and what you need to do:

• Under Data preferences,
  • Enable "Consent" for Store and/or access information on a device
    
    
    
  • Enable "Legitimate interest" for Use limited data to select advertising
    
    
    
  • Enable "Legitimate interest" for Measure advertising performance
    
    
    
  • Enable "Legitimate interest" for Understand audiences through statistics or combinations of data from different sources
    
    
    
  • Enable "Legitimate interest" for Develop and improve services
    
    
    
• Under Vendor preferences, Enable Consent and Legitimate Interest for Google Advertising Products
  
  1. From the main consent dialog, scroll to the bottom and tap "Manage options"
     
     
     
  2. On the Data preferences: Manager your data page, scroll to the bottom and tap "Vendor preferences"
     
     
     
  3. Scroll to "Google Advertising Products" and enable Consent and Legitimate interest
     
     
  4. All other vendors and settings, other than the above 6 requirements, can be turned off. When done tap "Confirm choices" and you'll be brought back to the app. You will now be served non-personalized ads. :)
     
     *Note* - If you tap "Confirm choices" and immediately see a dialog saying "This is an ad supported app. Without consent to show ads, please select one of the other options to continue using Life Bible, then you did something wrong and will need to repeat steps above.
